The Conservation Farming Unit (CFU) has launched a project aimed at enhancing the capacity of women and youth in climate-resilient agriculture and agroforestry in Situmbeko village, Kabile Ward, Chibombo District, Central Province. This initiative, which commenced in May 2024, is supported by the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme under the Great Green Wall Initiative, with a funding amount of $29,000 from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Project Goals
The CFU aims to train 1,000 farmers in climate-smart agricultural practices, with a specific focus on including 300 women and youth. Additionally, the project plans to implement conservation agriculture on 250 hectares of land and agroforestry practices on 150 hectares, promoting sustainable land management and environmental stewardship.
